How many people can we bring?

Inside the chapel, the space comfortably seats 30 guests. However, we’ve had weddings with as many as 100 guests! The front double doors can be opened so guests can stand or sit outside under the large covered overhang and concrete drive.

What are the available time slots?

We offer five 2-hour wedding slots per day:

  • 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

  • 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM

  • 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM

  • 2:45 PM – 4:45 PM

  • 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Each reservation includes exclusive access to the chapel for your entire time slot.

How does payment and cancellation work?

Delta Chapel is a self-service venue, and simplicity is key. To reserve your spot, you'll sign a contract and pay the full booking amount upfront. This payment is non-refundable, as we want to make sure couples who book are serious and do not take a time slot away from others who may really need it. You can always reach us by email, but we keep things lean and efficient so we can continue offering weddings at such a great value.

Is there a cleaning deposit?

Yes. Every booking includes a $100 cleaning deposit. If you leave the space in clean condition, you’ll receive the deposit back. If the next bride tells us she had to clean up after you, we’ll give your deposit to her for the extra work she had to do when she showed up.

How do we clean up properly?

It’s simple. We’ll send a checklist of a few key things to tidy up. There are no trash cans on site — so please take everything you brought with you, including trash and decor.

Can we bring food or champagne?

No. To keep things simple and clean, food and drinks are not allowed inside or outside the chapel. But who is looking if you walk out in the grass and pop some champagne?

Can we decorate?

You’re welcome to bring in small, freestanding items like flowers, signs, or a guestbook table. But nothing may be attached to walls, ceilings, or fixtures. No tape, nails, or adhesives of any kind.

Are chairs included?

Yes! There are 30 chairs in the space. However, if you need more, we do not have them. We highly recommend you opening the front doors and let people stand to observe the weddings.

Are there bathrooms?

There is one very small stall restroom in the chapel, we see that most ceremonies are short and easy and we reccommend making sure you use a restroom before you come. 

​

Who is Dixie?

Dixie is the owner of Delta Grocery across the street. She is a true legend. Go over to the store, step back in time, say hello, buy a Coke, and flash a smile. She loves watching couples tie the knot in town. Truly, you don't want to miss the experience that is Delta Grocery and Dixie. 

​

Do you offer tours?

We don’t offer formal tours. You’re welcome to drive by anytime, and we’ve created a video walkthrough and detailed photo gallery to show you everything you need. Honestly, there’s not much to “tour” — it’s a simple little chapel full of charm.

Is it really self-service?

Yes! Once booked, you’ll receive a code and access instructions. We do have staff that can show up at any time. For the most part you will show yourself in and you’ll lock up when finished. It’s easy and low-pressure.

How do the free weddings work?

Every Wednesday, we offer two free time slots (8am & 10:15am). You’ll place a refundable deposit to reserve one. If you show up, get married, and leave the space clean, your deposit will be fully refunded. It’s our desire that that a beautiful wedding be accessible to everyone. Please help us keep the chapel beautiful so many couples can benefit.

Can I use the chapel just for photos?

Definitely. Just book a time slot and bring your photographer. We may be biased, but the building makes a fantastic backdrop.

Is there parking?

Yes. There’s free parking all along Center Street in Delta, just steps from the chapel.

​

Is the chapel really an old gas station?

Yes! This building is over 100 years old and believed to be the first gas station built west of the Mississippi in Iowa. It’s been in our family for generations and has now been lovingly restored for couples like you.

​

Where can I get ready?

We’ve built a small, private building right onsite that you can rent by the hour. It’s perfect for getting dressed, doing hair and makeup, or just taking a quiet moment before the ceremony.
After you book your wedding time slot, you’ll receive a separate email with details on how to book the getting-ready space. The base rate is $75 per hour.

How do I book my date?

It’s simple. Just head to our Check Availability page, pick your time slot, and follow the steps. You’ll be able to select your date, fill out a quick form, sign your contract, and pay — all in one smooth path.

What if there is bad weather?

We do not offer refunds or rescheduling due to weather conditions, including rain or snow. Fortunately, most ceremonies are not affected by the weather. Plan ahead and dress appropriately. Delta Chapel is built to be beautiful in every season.

​

Can I book an extra time slot?

Yes. If you’d like more time, simply reserve the time slot before or after your existing one. That will give you a total of 4 hours and 15 minutes, including the 15-minute buffer between bookings.

​

Do I need to bring my own officiant?

Yes. We do not provide officiating services. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
